Julie McGuire and I attended Operation Physics this summer at Otterbein. It is funded by the Ohio Board of Regents Improving Teacher Quality grant and is held each year. In addition to the hands-on and minds-on lessons, teachers take back at least $800 of supplies (we got $1100+) and get five free hours of graduate credit. There are also four Saturday classes during the school year. One of those includes a "make-it/take-it" day for projects of your choosing, they supply the materials.
It was a very worthwhile experience - lots of fun and we learned far more than we thought we would. In my opinion, every Science teacher grades 4-9 should try to attend this class, it will change your teaching for the better!
