A note from the program coordinator: We will be having a summer immersion June 6-9 9:00-4:00 each day, during which university faculty collaborate with K-12 mathematics teachers in investigating fun, engaging, and meaningful mathematical problems. Each session is the summarized with a pedagogical debrief with classroom and Common Core connections. We do math in a fun and collaborative way while really working on problem solving--one past participant described it as "a mathematical spa" where we just enjoy and feel better about math. I'm really hoping we get some teachers from Logan Elm to participate! Our focus is on grades 3-8 teachers, but all K-12 math teachers are encouraged to apply. A note from the program coordinator: I have just opened registration for the K-8 Science Inquiry Summer Institute to teachers outside of our partner districts. We have 25 seats in the course and our partners will only use about half of them so I have a dozen openings. I have attached an information flyer and a registration/application form for you to distribute to your colleagues. Wright State has a program geared toward Science Teaching for Ohio's New Economy. This seems to have a strong college & career readiness component. Two of our teachers have already taken this class. It is very worthwhile but a great deal of time and work. A note from the program coordinator: Here is a flyer and an application form for our workshops in chemistry and physics. These are aimed primarily at the high school level, but we have had a significant number of middle school science teachers take the physics one, in particular, with really great success. Note that the published application deadline is soon (March 15) - however, we typically are not quite full at that point, so we will continue to accept applications past that date until we are, and we will also have a waiting list, if necessary. https://stemoutreach.osu.edu/events/central-ohio-physics-chemistry-modeling-workshops |
